FAQ & documents

Who can buy Bill Protector or Income Protector?

Our Bill Protector and Income Protector products can only be purchased by UW customers within the first 30 days of joining and who have a direct debit set up. Another exclusive offering for our UW customers.

What’s the difference between the two?

The main difference between these two policies is that Bill Protector ensures your UW bill is covered if you cannot work through no fault of your own, paying UW directly. While Income Protector provides payment directly to you to cover your household expenses.

What does each policy cover?

Bill Protector and Income Protector can help safeguard your bills if you’re unable to work through no fault of your own. Bill Protector will ensure your UW bill is covered up to a maximum of £300 per month for 6 months, while Income Protector provides up to 65% of your pre-tax income (up to a maximum of £750 a month) for 6 months. Both policies also provide a hospitalisation benefit if you are admitted to hospital as an inpatient.

For full details regarding the level/type of cover provided by Bill Protector and Income Protector as well as all applicable exclusions, please refer to the documents in the “Important documents” section below.

What does ‘no fault of your own’ mean?

Bill Protector and Income Protector policies safeguard your income should you not be able to work through unemployment or accident. Meaning your unemployment cannot be voluntary or due to your misconduct, and any injury that means you cannot work wasn’t deliberately self-inflicted, related to drug or alcohol abuse or as part of elective hospital treatment.

When can I buy a policy?

Both Bill Protector and Income Protector are available to UW customers within the first 30 days of joining. After that first 30 day window these policies are no longer available for purchase, so make sure to get your sorted sooner rather than later!

Will my insurance be on my UW bill?

How do I pay for my policy?
