The legal bit
Most existing broadband and mobile providers will increase their prices by CPI, plus 3.9% (except TalkTalk, 3.7%), paving the way for price increases of around 6.4% (or 6.2% for TalkTalk customers). The CPI inflationary rise does not apply to some more recent contracts from these providers which may include an annual pounds-and-pence increase stated at the time of purchase in customers’ contracts. Some providers may have no price rises at all. Check your contract to see if you are affected by price rises.
Switching to a UW broadband after your initial contract with your current supplier has ended could save you £146 a year. This calculation is based on the average 12-month out of contract cost calculated in January 2025 of Talk Talk, EE, BT, Sky, and Vodafone (£458), compared to the average cost of UW’s Ultra tariff at £312 (£26 a month). Correct as of 31 January 2025.
