Switching couldn't be easier.

If you’re new to UW, sign-up here and start by choosing your plan.

If you’re an existing UW energy, mobile, or insurance customer, you can add broadband to your bundle by logging into your account.

We'll handle the entire process and it only takes about 14 days. You'll keep your existing telephone number, and if you don’t have a telephone line we can install one for you.

No, once you’ve signed up to UW and chosen your broadband package, leave it with us and we'll let your existing provider know you're switching. You can learn more about that here.

However, if you're currently a Virgin customer, you will need to call them after your line is working with us and ask them to cancel the service. Start your switch today.

Yes, you can. But you'll need to make sure your router isn't locked by your previous provider. When you sign up to us, we'll send you your username and password, so you connect your own router.

With our superfast Full Fibre Broadband options, your router needs to be Very High-Speed Digital Subscriber Line (VDSL) compatible. If it's not, it won't work with our broadband service.

A good broadband speed depends on how many devices your household is using and the level of your usage. At UW, we offer a range of broadband packages that suit the different needs of our customers.

  • Ultra: 35Mbps — This is the recommended speed for streaming HD videos, casual gaming, or small home office use. This should support a few devices connected simultaneously without significant slowdown.

  • Ultra Plus: 63Mbps — At 63Mbps, you will experience smoother video calls and can use more devices in your home without impacting your performance. 

  • Full Fibre 150: 152Mbps — If your household frequently streams in 4K, engages in competitive online gaming, or has multiple devices heavily using the internet at the same time, speeds of 152 Mbps will keep up with your broadband usage.

  • Full Fibre 500: 500Mbps — With 500Mbps, you can confidently run many devices at a heavy usage, or for professional needs like home-based servers or intensive online operations.

  • Full Fibre 900: 944Mbps — 944Mbps is perfect for the busiest households. You can stream 4K on multiple devices at the same time, with no slow downs.

Broadband connections depend on lots of factors, which can affect the speed you get at home. This is why we refer to our broadband package speeds as averages.

Here are some things that can affect your broadband speed:

  • Connection type — How your property is connected to the exchange. Copper wires used in FTTC aren’t as efficient as fibre optic cables used for FTTP. Learn more about FTTC vs FTTP here.

  • How many devices are connected to your router — Each device uses up bandwidth, which can slow down your internet speed. Using the internet in peak hours, when there are more people in your area connected to the network, can also cause a slower speed.

  • Router — If your router is far away from your devices, or blocked by thick walls or doors, this can also slow you down. Cable connections also tend to be faster than wireless ones.
