What does Buildings and Contents Insurance cover?
At UW, our Buildings and Contents Insurance focuses on two different elements to give you the most extensive cover. For the foundations of your home, such as the walls and roof, there’s our buildings insurance. For everything inside, there’s our contents insurance.

What does Contents Insurance cover?
Our contents insurance looks after the items that move you – and move with you.
If your belongings get damaged or stolen, our contents insurance can help fund the cost of replacing or repairing them.
Contents insurance is ideal for protecting high-value items, but in some cases, you might not feel the need for it. On the other hand, if you’re a renter and don’t own your property, you can also take our contents insurance on its own.

What’s not covered?
While our Home Insurance (Buildings and Contents) includes all the essentials, there are some things that it doesn’t cover:
Wear and tear
Any loss, damage, or liability caused deliberately
Anything that’s happened gradually over time
Damage caused before your policy start date
Damage caused by lack of maintenance or renovation
Damage resulting from pests
Damage resulting from your home being unoccupied for over 60 days in a row

While our contents insurance covers belongings kept at your address, this protects certain items when you take them outside of your home.
Pedal cycles (outside the home)

Emergencies can be unexpected and have a devastating impact. We can cover various home emergencies relating to plumbing, electrics, water supply, drainage, central heating, gas supply, lost keys, roofing, pests and security*.

Yes, your cover levels and limits stay the same.
So, unless you’ve specifically requested any changes to your policy, we’ll get you a quote for the exact same level of cover as the previous year. If anything changes, we’ll notify you in writing.
