Five-star-rated cover

Our Boiler & Home Cover has been rated five stars by Moneyfacts.

£400 to help you switch: When you take a 3 or 4+ Service Bundle, we’ll give you credit up to £400 towards any termination fees (excluding Home Insurance) you have to pay your current providers. You’ll need to return any equipment and pay for services you used before you cancel. Additional requirements apply to customers who are tenants. **30 days to change your mind – Available when a new customer switches at least two of their services on the same date: energy, broadband, mobile and insurance (insurance means Boiler & Home Cover only). What does the policy cover?

Our Boiler & Home Cover gives you financial protection from unexpected breakdowns and repairs. In addition to a free annual service and unlimited call-outs if your boiler acts up, your policy will also include cover for:  

  • Boiler and controls

  • Central heating

  • Plumbing

  • Drains

  • Electrics

  • Roof

  • Pests

  • Security

What is a boiler service?

As part of our boiler insurance, you’re eligible to book a free annual service to ensure your boiler is working as it should. A qualified engineer will visit your property to inspect your boiler system and assess whether any maintenance is required. They’ll report any findings and provide guidance on repairs or replacements.

What does a boiler service include?

As part of your boiler service, an engineer will usually:

  • Inspect the boiler and its parts for wear and tear

  • Remove any dirt or debris that could have built up inside the boiler

  • Carry out performance tests to check that all parts are working correctly

  • Evaluate the overall performance to make sure the boiler is heating your home efficiently 

You will be left with a Service Document that will confirm whether the appliance is safe, highlight any warning notices and detail any repair work that may be required. 

During the service, they will check the heat exchanger, burner/injectors, ignition and flame, electrical connection, system controls, fans, combustion seals, closure plate & PRS 10 tape, catchment space, location and stability, return air/plenum, ventilation and flue and operating pressure.

How long does a boiler service take?

Every boiler is different. However, a typical boiler service takes 30-60 minutes.

How do I book my free annual boiler service?

To book your boiler servicing appointment, please contact the servicing team directly at 0333 777 3235 and an advisor will be able to assist you. You can also book online at uw.myboilerservicing.co.uk/.

How often does my boiler need servicing?

It’s recommended that you service your boiler once a year to keep it running smoothly and efficiently. Regular servicing can help to prevent unexpected breakdowns before they happen, and ensures your boiler meets required safety standards. 

For UW customers with Boiler & Home Cover, this annual service is included for free as part of your policy. Scheduling your annual service is easy and can be booked online here.

What is home emergency cover?

Home emergency cover provides assistance in the event of a sudden emergency that poses a risk to your property, or makes your home unsafe. This includes things like burst pipes, broken down heating systems, electrical failures, and even pest infestations. 

With UW’s Boiler & Home Cover, we provide 24/7 call-out support to help you with urgent issues that can’t wait. Our home emergency insurance can help you cover the cost of call-out fees and repairs to resolve the problem in the short-term.

Does my home insurance cover emergencies?

UW Home Insurance doesn’t cover home emergencies as standard, but it will protect you for things like fire, flood, theft, and vandalism.

We offer home emergency insurance as an optional add-on to your UW Home Insurance policy. Or you can purchase our Boiler & Home Cover for boiler and home emergency insurance.
