Secure your price today with fixed-price electricity tariffs
A fixed electricity tariff is where you pay a set unit price for the duration of your contract, even if energy prices increase. That’s why fixed energy tariffs can be a cost-effective option, as your unit rate and standing charge are locked up regardless of any fluctuations in the market.
Here at UW, we offer UW Fixed tariffs to new and existing customers to help protect their electricity prices. When you sign up, your electricity rates will be locked up throughout the length of your contract.
Don’t want to lock in? Save with our variable-rate electricity tariffs
If you’re worried about committing to a fixed-price electricity tariff, we also offer variable-rate tariffs.
Our variable electricity tariffs mean that your unit rate might go up or down depending on how the wholesale energy market performs. Our prices can change every three months in line with Ofgem’s quarterly energy price cap review.
With our market-leading variable electricity deals, you’ll also get a discount of up to £50 a year against the Government’s energy price cap on your electricity when you bundle more services with us.

How will my electricity bill be affected by the energy price cap?
Based on Ofgem's typical domestic usage, the energy price cap level is set to £1,641 per year, taking effect from 1 April 2026. This change reflects a typical household that uses gas and electricity and pays by direct debit.
Ofgem sets the price cap to make sure prices are fair for users on default energy tariffs, and that it reflects the underlying costs and inflation of the energy market. They review and update the price cap every three months to stay aligned with market conditions. You can learn more about energy price cap costs and predictions and how it may impact your energy bills.

FAQs
We’ll get you switched over from your existing provider in two to five working days. We’ll do all the work, so you can just sit back and relax.
We’ll keep you updated throughout the process, and you can also track the progress via our free mobile app.
No, we’ll contact your current electricity provider to let them know about your move.
In a few weeks, we’ll ask you for meter readings, at which point we’ll start billing you for your electricity, and your current supplier will stop (so you won't pay for the same energy twice).
If your balance is in credit, your old supplier will then arrange to send you a final invoice and refund your money back to you. If your balance is in debt, we recommend you clear this with your current supplier before switching to UW.
Yes, you can switch to UW if you already have a smart meter from your current supplier.
If you have a second-generation smart meter or a first-generation smart meter made by Secure, it will transfer to us with all its smart benefits intact and without any interruption to your readings or bill payments. We’ll start communicating with it to collect your accurate readings.
If you have a first-generation smart meter not made by Secure, it may not work with us in smart mode, so you may need to give us meter readings.
Our first-generation smart meters are made by the company Secure. Other suppliers who also use them include Utilita, OVO Energy, E.On and Octopus.

No, you don’t have to have a smart meter. However, if your meter is being installed for the first time or needs replacing, we’ll install a smart meter.
In any case, we think it’s a really good idea that you have a smart meter. You’ll get:
Automated meter readings – saving you time every month.
Accurate bills – no more estimates, so you only pay for what you use.
To see your electricity use in pounds and pence – so you can use less energy and save money.
A Pay As You Go, or prepayment, meter means you won’t receive bills for your energy. Instead, you top up your meter with credit, which pays for your energy. Your credit will go down as you use electricity and gas.
Prepayment meters help give you a better idea of how much energy you’re using so you can take steps to reduce your usage.
Smart prepayment meters have more benefits than traditional meters, including a free smart meter display that helps you understand your energy use.
If you’ve just moved into a property and aren’t sure who your electricity supplier is, you can find out by entering your postcode into the Energy Network Association search tool to find your network operator.
Then, you can contact your network operator for your supplier details. They’ll also be able to provide you with your electricity Meter Point Administration Number (MPAN), which tells your energy supplier where your meter is and your electricity supply number.
