19th May 2026 : New research reveals that Brits are stuck in a cycle of putting off life admin, delaying everyday tasks for far longer than they actually take, and building them up to be more stressful and time consuming than they really are.

In fact, Utility Warehouse research found that 91% of Brits admit to putting off at least one life admin task, while 61% say they spend more time avoiding tasks than actually doing them.

From paying bills to comparing tariffs, household admin has become one of the UK's most dreaded experiences — tying up time, stress and mental load in tasks that are often quicker and more manageable than people expect.

To help break the procrastination cycle, Utility Warehouse has launched the Admin Party Pack, a simple, practical toolkit designed to help people get through life admin together in a fun and relaxed way, rather than letting it build up and tackling it alone. Nearly half of Brits (47%) say they feel instantly relieved after completing admin, while a third (32%) feel proud or accomplished and one in three (29%) say they feel happier.

Procrastination Nation: What we found

Our nationally representative survey of 2,000 UK adults uncovered the UK's most dreaded admin tasks and quantified the mental load of life admin. The findings expose a nation of admin avoiders — and an appetite for a better way.

Key findings from the research include:

• 91% of Brits admit to putting off at least one life admin task

• 61% say they spend longer avoiding tasks than actually completing them

• 56% have forgotten to cancel subscriptions or direct debits they no longer use

• 33% lost at least £50 in the past year from forgotten subscriptions

Brits also revealed the life admin tasks they avoid the most:

• Making important phone calls (33%)

• Booking appointments (24%)

• Organising documents (23%)

• Paying bills (14%)

These insights tap into a highly relatable, everyday frustration while introducing the idea of reframing admin as something more social and rewarding.

Methodology

The findings featured in the Admin Party campaign are based on a nationally representative survey commissioned by Utility Warehouse. The survey polled 2,000 UK adults (50% male, 50% female) to uncover the UK's most dreaded admin tasks and quantify the mental load of life admin.
