PROCRASTI-NATION: BRITS SPEND LONGER AVOIDING LIFE ADMIN THAN ACTUALLY DOING IT

  • New research from Utility Warehouse reveals that nine in ten (91%) Brits put off life admin tasks like paying bills, managing money and switching providers.

  • To help break the cycle, Utility Warehouse has launched the Admin Party Pack – a toolkit to help people get life admin done in one go, in a more structured and social way.

  • The campaign taps into the TikTok trend, encouraging Brits to get together to make life admin quicker, easier and, frankly, more fun.

London, Tuesday 19th May 2026: New research by Utility Warehouse has revealed that Britain is a nation of life-admin-avoiders, with millions of people regularly putting off everyday tasks like paying bills, booking appointments and sorting finances for far longer than they actually take. Built around Utility Warehouse’s belief that life’s better when you get it together, the brand has launched a helpful Admin Party Pack – a practical toolkit designed to help Brits tackle life admin together and stop putting off everyday tasks and get the job done!

The research found that almost two thirds of Brits (61%) reckon they spend more time putting tasks off than actually doing them, as a staggering nine in ten (91%) of us admit to putting off at least one life admin task. And procrastination isn’t just costing Brits time, it’s hitting their pockets, too. Over half (56%) admit they’ve forgotten to cancel subscriptions or direct debits for services they don’t want, with a third (33%) losing at least £50 in the past year alone for services they no longer use.

To help break the procrastination cycle, Utility Warehouse has launched the Admin Party Pack, a simple, practical toolkit designed to help people get through life admin together in a fun and relaxed way, rather than letting it build up and tackling it alone. Nearly half of Brits (47%) say they feel instantly relieved after completing admin, while a third (32%) feel proud or accomplished and one in three (29%) say they feel happier.

For those who want a bit more support, Utility Warehouse Partners can also help host or guide an Admin Party, bringing a more personal, local touch to getting household admin done. Find your local Utility Warehouse Partner here.

When it comes to the jobs people like to dodge, making important phone calls tops the list (33%), followed by booking appointments (24%) and organising documents (23%) with paying bills (14%) even making the nation’s procrastination list.

And Brits give a range of reasons for putting things off:

  • It’s just boring! (27%)

  • Prioritising other things instead (27%)

  • They forget about it (23%)

  • They associate it with stress, including money worries (21%)

  • They feel overwhelmed by the task (20%)

David Walter, Chief Commercial Officer at Utility Warehouse, said: “We all know life admin has a habit of becoming tomorrow’s problem. The Admin Party Pack is designed to change that, making it easier to get things done together rather than alone. We truly believe that when people get together, everything feels more manageable.”

Designed for people to use at home, with friends and family over snacks and socialising, the pack includes checklists for everyday ‘housemin’ jobs like bills, subscriptions and finances, helping people stay on top of life admin. Instead of facing it solo, it turns it into a shared session, tapping into the growing trend for doing life admin together – with one in five (20%) Brits saying they’re more motivated in company and over a third (43%) saying “body doubling” helps them focus and get things done.

The campaign reflects Utility Warehouse’s wider mission to make everyday life simpler. By offering energy, broadband, mobile, and insurance together in one place via one monthly bill, the company helps customers spend less time juggling providers and more time on what matters. Life admin isn’t going anywhere, but it doesn’t have to be a solo slog. With the support of Utility Warehouse Partners in local communities, it can become something more social, structured and surprisingly straightforward when tackled together.
